During the summer I was in Bali and I decided to visit Mount Bromo. Mount Bromo is an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia. The typical way to visit Mount Bromo is from the nearby mountain village of Cemoro Lawang. From there it is possible to walk to the volcano in about 45 minutes, but it is also possible to take an organised jeep tour, which includes a stop at the viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan. I plan this trip with my friend Nanda that has a photography academy in Singapore because I wanted to shoot star trials, milky way and the sunrise at the Volcano.
The trip was for 2 nights. I took a flight from Bali to Surabaya and from there the drive to Bromo was around 3 hours. While in the village we went at night to shoot the stars. It was the perfect weather conditions as it was new moon and the sky was full of stars. The next morning at 2:30 am we drove by jeep to the view point on Penanjakan, that is 30 mins by car and 45 mins walking up to catch the best sunrise of the craters.
After doing star trials and catching an amazing sunrise from the point I went to take a rest. After we walked around the small village and waited as the weather condition was very foggy to shoot that night. The next morning before departure we went to the crater to photograph the silhouette of a horse man with the sunrise.
Here are the photos of the short but wonderful trip to Mount Bromo.
Enjoy !!!
